Staff at Bob's IGA remains committed to their customers during pandemic

The Chronicle - 4/11/2021

Apr. 10—WINDHAM — During a global pandemic that created many crazed customers, one local grocery store did everything in its power to keep area residents safe and satisfied.

Bob's Windham IGA, located at 422 Windham Road, was — like many grocery and department stores — at the front line of the coronavirus pandemic since March 2020.

Co-owner Rob Buonomano commended the staff for their work during the health crisis.

"They were absolutely amazing," Buonomano said. "Sixteen-year-old kids to 60-year-old adults stepped up. It was like a team I'd never seen before."

One staff member described the first couple months of the pandemic as "scary" and "unbelievable."

"Last March when there wasn't any meat on the shelves, it was down to the bare bones," deli manager Monica Parent said. "We all just kind of stood there looking at it like it wasn't really happening. And that was the day I went home and just cried."

Other staff worked throughout the entire pandemic process and saw the good and the bad.

" People were really panicked about the food," said bakery manager Jammie Mutch.

"People were buying crazy amounts of everything."
