60 new COVID-19 cases confirmed on Cape and Islands

Apr. 13—In its daily report Monday, the state Department of Public Health said Massachusetts had 1,376 newly confirmed cases of COVID-19, including 60 on the Cape and Islands.

Since the pandemic began, there have been 621,261 confirmed COVID-19 cases in the state.

There were no new deaths caused by COVID-19 reported in Barnstable County on Cape Cod on Monday.

Since March 2020, 453 people with COVID-19 on Cape Cod have died.

Barnstable County had 43 newly confirmed cases of coronavirus Sunday for a total of 12,938 since the pandemic began in March 2020.

Dukes County on Martha's Vineyard had 16 new cases Monday for a total of 1,113 to date. Nantucket County, which has had 1,402 coronavirus cases, had one new case reported Monday.

The state Department of Public Health said 699 people in Massachusetts were hospitalized with COVID-19, including 162 patients in intensive care units. Of that number, 102 patients were intubated.

State public health officials said that as of Sunday, Cape Cod Hospital in Hyannis had 20 coronavirus patients, two of whom were in intensive care. Falmouth Hospital had 10 patients with COVID-19, with four in intensive care.

Martha's Vineyard Hospital and Nantucket Cottage Hospital each had one COVID-19 patient.

Statewide, the average age of COVID-19 patients at hospitalization on Saturday was 61.

Public health officials said there were an estimated 36,775 active cases of coronavirus in Massachusetts. According to Monday's report, there were 156 new probable cases of COVID-19 for a total of 39,840 probable cases since last March.

Across Massachusetts, there were 19 new deaths of people with confirmed cases of coronavirus, making for a total of 17,061 fatalities statewide among confirmed cases since last March.

State public health officials said Monday there were no new deaths among probable cases. They said the total number of fatalities of people with probable cases stands at 345.

State public health officials said 39,378 new molecular tests have been conducted. They said the seven-day average positivity rate is 2.3%.
